What are the top internal communication platforms for remote teams to stay connected?

Microsoft Teams is great for instant messaging while working remotely. Of course it's a great alternative to those quick "swing by your desk to chat" moments. Just send them a Teams message instead! But even better if the opportunity to build community on Teams. We have "watercooler" channels for parents, pet owners, regional communities, ERG groups, and more. It's a great way to feel connected when you're not in an office.

My favorite is #Slack. It allows people to chat directly with others and have those conversations organized into focused channels. ??

Having experienced remote work myself, it is important for a company to invest in good and strong technology infrastructure that supports instant messaging and video platforms, as both of these tools are essential in today′s hybrid world. Additionally, it is important to set up and communicate security policies to protect companies′sensitive information.

One Drive or Teams are great places to share files so everyone has the latest and greatest -- but make sure to have a file name structure to prevent issues with version control. For sales and account management teams, you can keep your repository in your CRM, so they only need to check one place. Or leverage a tool, like Uberflip, for external-facing materials.

Feedback tools are great and offer insight into the minds of those you are communicating with, but one thing to remember is that if you don't acknowledge, act on or show how feedback is being taken into account, it's worthless and eventually, they won't share feedback.

Zoom: Zoom offers multilingual support for its interface and allows users to conduct meetings with simultaneous interpretation in multiple languages. This feature enables global teams to communicate effectively during virtual meetings. Workplace by Facebook: Workplace by Facebook supports multilingual communication, allowing users to post, comment, and interact in multiple languages. This is somewhat a blurred line between internal and external comms, but be mindful of what your employees and prospective employees are saying on online forums. There is tons of dialogue on Fishbowl, Reddit, etc. and employer review sites like Glassdoor and Comparably that should be actively monitored to gain insight. And there should be a clear owner of this, whether it's HR or marketing, or wherever it makes the most sense.
