While Excel is a widely used tool for data analysis and has several strengths, it may not always be the best tool for handling large or complex datasets compared to more specialized software and programming languages. Strengths of Excel for Data Analysis: Basic Data Manipulation: Excel allows users to perform common data manipulation tasks such as sorting, filtering, and basic calculations (sums, averages, etc.) efficiently. PivotTables and Charts: PivotTables and charts in Excel are powerful tools for summarizing and visualizing data, providing quick insights into trends and patterns. Before selecting the tool, try analysing what exactly the needs is. Listed few points below which should be considered- 1. Where the data is stored? 2. Who your target audience is? 3. What is the volume of your data? 4. What expertise is available easily in your organisation? All these are few questions which will help you to decide. For example- ThoughtSpot is AI driven visualisation. It can create charts just by typing the query in almost plain English. if your target audience is management who needs to get ans for many questions which are not predefined then it’s very good choice.
