Udemy and LikedIn university are great resources. I personally recommend picking a course when it is about time to use it and not random as practice makes these skills stick. With high availability, you always have the luxury of timing your learning to needs. Plus, these learning platforms provide for all types of learners - fast & furious or slow & steady.

Online Courses are best ways to stay updated but remember to practice Hands-on projects & assignments embedded within the courses.

Once we learn the new skills in the market, its always good to include learnings in day-to-day work so that we are comfortable and can explore advanced capabilities in new technologies.

Blogs are podcasts are more inspirational than educational to me. They help me discover new options/capabilities that I did not know or care to use before. This keeps me abreast with new trends and serves as a channel for continuous improvement.

Blogs and podcasts will give more information on overall process used in the projects and new capabilities available which are available in new tools and technologies. Its good to implement our learnings in blogs and podcasts in our projects.

Communities and forums will provide a platform for most of new projects and also streamline the process in existing projects. I have been part of Spotfire and Tableau forums where i got to learn of new things and also helped me in setting up business intelligence architecture and also use the Tableau in some use cases.

I think some of the best ways to stay up to date is by joining/following online communities. Whether it’s by participating in community challenges like #workoutwednesday where you’re tasked with recreating complex reports that sometimes use new or less known features of visualization software. Or by following other analytics professionals and seeing their thoughts and personal projects.

Communities & Forums are a wealth of information. Just like everyone else, my primary reason to go there is when i have a problem to solve that I cannot figure out myself. There are experts all over the world willing and able to help us close to real-time. So I thank the internet gods for bringing all of us together and help us all get better.

These are low effort/low reward options. I say low reward primarily because they are targeted towards a wide user group and the topics may or may not meet your interests consistently. The niche ones are more likely to be useful but then I worry if they take me to a rabbit hole. As a generalist, this is purely a self-preference. I am sure this is a great avenue for specialists and advanced users.

Events are more fun as you get to meet and socialize with fellow enthusiasts. Personally i get validated and feel heard when a bunch of people are talking about things that i care about in a 'language' i speak. Just like other channels, this is a great for those who can fit it in the schedules. The topics and people behind the events are key drivers to me wanting to attend. But i do review every invite carefully to calculate interest and desire to participate.
