I like to leverage various office tools to support action/takeaway follow-up. Identifying an owner + target date in the meeting minutes that are published is only the first step to following up effectively. Whether it's in MS Planner, Outlook, or another application with a "task reminder" function; I've found success by creating reminders for follow-up ahead of target/due dates for myself. So a couple days ahead of a large deliverable my reminder will trigger and I'll connect with the owner. By asking for an update ahead of the due date I can ensure the person has a gentle reminder of the task and we can avoid getting to the next meeting only to learn the task was forgotten or left undone.
