When doing usability tests, I'm cautious about relying too much on numbers like Time on Task (ToT). These numbers need to be statistically significant to be reliable. For example, if ToT improves from 2 to 3 seconds with a new design, that might look like a 50% improvement. But if you've only tested 10 people for each version, that's not very reliable. Maybe the first group was slower because some of them just ate, or some were distracted by text messages. We should be careful when extrapolating quantifiable data from qualitative methods and presenting it as an insight.
