One thing I found that in dynamic markets where a category has a potential to grow yet minimally tested for a portion, supply disruption can invite competitors to take the shelves which might ruin the possibility or potential of the market leadership that could be mustered. Playing safe is not always fruitful. In case of trend analysis of price variations and long lead time, hedging of inventory can be a game changer in this scenario. Of course related risks to be measured. But again highest gain cones from how higher the risk that you can undertake specifically when you have a potential market growth and possibility to win. Game theory can be applied here since competitors 'actions are not clear maximizing your own benefit.
