Reliability and maintainability are two separate areas, but related. The only thing I have to add is that we use the "two zero" rule at my company to test reliability. We add two zeros to the expected data volume and number of users and load test the application. For instance, if we expect 5,000 records in a view, we load 500,000 records and test performance.
