A great tool to facilitate this is a 'service blueprint' that maps user actions (think customer journey and interaction design) to behind-the-scenes activities (think API calls etc.). The Service blueprint visualization helps guide alignment between different perspectives on the same capability.

It helps to go over the very basic questions your devs might have with a quick alignment meeting early on in the project. For example, a form with 3 steps can be built as 3 separate web pages or 1 page with dynamic elements. I have found that knowing how my designs will be implemented helps me consider the interactions and potential loading states a user would face.
