Always use multiple methods. For my upper level finance positions a case study is almost always assigned. In addition to case studies, a comprehensive reference check should be conducted with at minimum one prior manager and also a prior or current peer.

It's important during this portion of the planning not to give way to tokenism. Using this logic, serving a diverse community will inspire a diverse volunteer pool. This excercie can be difficult depending on your mission, but I would still challenge your thinking here. Are you planting tree's in the amazon? Can you connect to indiginous communities and inspire their participation?
