Having worked with teams in different time zones and different cultures for over a decade now, I focus on clear communication, cultural sensitivity, flexible working hours, and the use of collaboration tools. Regular virtual meetings, and team-building activities are key to fostering a cohesive and inclusive team. The goal is to create an environment where everyone feels heard, connected and valued, regardless of their location or background.

Having a clear agenda to guide the conversation and manage responsibilities to delegate is huge during the meetings. Leaving the conversation with clear, actionable next steps ensures everyone is aligned and prepared.

For me, i am big fan of mind maps, charts and calendar layout to have a better overview and for my team's way to optimizing communication by employing a shared virtual space - Microsoft Teams and OneNote, allowing continuous discussions regardless of time zones and uninterrupted workflow. Add on a task management tools like Monday to help track and prioritize efficiently = seamless collaboration and productivity.Hint: to have common shared storage too.

You can make your own observations, but having this initial conversation helps you know how to delegate and manage their career development properly. You can then focus assignments on where their strengths lie and what they are interested in, which will make them more engaged with the work and enjoy the process. It's very important to ensure your teammates feel comfortable asking questions and seeking feedback. It's also crucial to acknowledge their efforts and demonstrate your appreciation.

By openly acknowledging instances where trust may have been eroded or accountability was lacking, in the first couple of minutes in each meeting. This approach allow everyone to voice out on any unhappiness or discomfort giving all a fair chance to think about it. In most cases it is just an oversight, misalignment due to the the fact that we are virtual body language may come off differently.
