We talk a lot about Discovery at this stage, but often it doesn't contain enough user interviews. A good understanding of the market and the strategies of existing players is important, but we cannot limit ourselves to this approach because it is common for these players to copy each other without having a good product vision. Thus emerge perfect standards without values (like favorites on an e-commerce site, which depending on the sector turn out to be very little used). Thus the roadmap and product vision may be penalized by a lack of understanding of the problem.

Most of the time this phase is under-evaluated, management teams tend to brief on a solution that corresponds to their vision of the subject without necessarily understanding the user problem in depth. For this, an immersion detached from market clichés and the biases of contributors is important. Certainly, experts in the sector often have a mature vision of certain subjects, but it must be supplemented with an external perspective, which through empathy will be interested in people's uses.

2 Define the requirements

Based on your user research and problem analysis, you need to define the requirements for your product. These are the features, functions, and attributes that your product must have to meet the user needs and expectations. From my experience, it is at this stage that user testing has the most value, because we are in the concrete of the solution, but at this stage, the schedules are often too tense. Informal testing is a royal voice for moving quickly and feeding the design team. Formal testing can save time and money by avoiding producing items that are not mature. The design team knows what needs to be challenged but for that the working climate must be pleasant, it's virtuous.

The final step of the user-centered product development framework is to launch and evaluate your product. This means releasing your product to the market and reaching your target audience.
