As a project Manager it becomes crucial to identify right talent for proper task...like someone with good people skills ( communication & co-ordination) can be put as co-ordinator, whereas someone with deep technical awareness can be deployed for site execution or quality control activities. As a manager it also becomes equally important to keep a keen eye on budget of the project as well as timelines. You are always doing a balancing act between budget & timelines keeping job quality intact.

I am always grateful to my all recruiters who has given me chances to gather some practical knowledge to be a Project Manager. I have no academic certificate. But my practical knowledge or field work knowledge is quite equivalent to those academic certificate.

Its crucial to have role models in your field of interest specifically for women in STEM. - Reach out and connect with the PM's that inspire you either on your team or on LinkedIn - Seek opportunities to work with PMs who are willing to mentor and give constructive feedback to improve. - Show willingness to take more responsibilities and take decisions for the project like a PM with your mentors support to build the confidence.

Having mentors and seeking constant feedback in my opinion of most important going from PC to PM, but this can apply to any position wanting to make the next step up. Having the right feedback sessions becomes the ‘platform’ to discuss what is needed to make the next step, whether it’s external or internal training, more responsibility or exposure. A good manager will help and facilitate to ensure that people are given the opportunity.

In my opinion, being led by a mentor as a project manager is highly beneficial, and I am honored to state that throughout my career, I have consistently had excellent mentors from whom I've learned significantly. Besides academic studies, the opportunity to engage with seasoned professionals in this field is invaluable. I believe effective management is an art, a gift possessed by only a few individuals who can impart their wisdom to those new to the field of managing projects.

Analyse your Project Manager ever met before. Look their Pros and Cons. Take and learn their postive manner, leave and don't do their negative manner. Of course need always train yourself and full dedicate on your job until you get chance from your current company or find chance from other companies

Seeking mentorship is the toughest part, because, as we move up and add projects to our portfolio, we tend to believe that we cannot be wrong. We generally shy away from asking a mentor for help. We generally go to the mentor for validation, rather than advice.

Being a reference person is always beneficial. Your payment is based on your scope of work, but the value you bring to the quality of your tasks and the expansion of the assignment's domain is what truly matters. By striving to improve project issues, particularly those related to better relationships with project stakeholders, you create more added value to your work.

Best way of learning is to get out from our comfort zones. And the easiest way to achieve this is to take on more and diverse responsibilities.

Some of the best ways one can follow to exploit this career growth opportunity is to pay attention on how their (senior) PM execute the project management tasks, how they do presentations, how they follow up and make sure their stakeholders meet their deadlines. I remember how I exploited such opportunity with one of my ex-employer. I’d find ways to improve turnaround times within the PMO team, also by keeping the stakeholders accountable with their tasks. I would ask my PM if I can run his stand-ups, then ask for performance feedback on where I did well/poor, and how to improve. Mind you, I was triple-hatting, trying to execute business analysis deliverables at the same time. My advice is, just go for it even when you not comfortable.

A project manager is a jack of all trades and leader of all. He is the embodiment of years of experience in the fields of design, construction, contracts and procurement. A project manager needs to be have that gumption to carry a project to completion, through what may. He needs to be firm with direction yet flexible to deal with unforeseen circumstances. He needs to be able to deal with different stakeholders with different needs and wants. He needs to be able to travel ahead in time so that he can foresee and mitigate risk. This may seems quite daunting as it is so far from the expectation for a project coordinator. But I believe that if one has that sense of ownership for one’s project, everything and more will just happen naturally.

For good project manager you must learn how to listen and communicate to other. Listening is more important, because you learn more form failure instead of success. So you must be always in the position that others come to you and talk about their failures. It need your active listening and best of communication skills.

I believe the biggest tools needed to be a great project manager is active listening and collaboration. Throughout this career path you will be met with a lot of ambiguity and reading and reacting to an issue. Being able to digest and decipher all the pertinent information is crucial to ensure success. Being an amazing collaborator is a key aspect as well. Understanding how to work with various personality types and stakeholders is one part. Adding value on their end so that, that collaborator is more likely to assist in an urgent ask or point you in the right direction is the benefit you can recieve.

What I feel that as a Coordinator, you are the one coordinating are working with your team to deliver a project. You and your team equally share the responsibilities as well as share the challenges and sucess together. As a manager, you need to both coordinate and take care what your team needs. A good managers will always appreciate the team members on their achievements and encourage them during hard times. Work is the same, how you manage it becomes important. This improves both efficiency and work culture.
