1 Rule of thirds

The Rule of Thirds is ancient. It works. Like this: Draw two imaginary lines horizontally across your image, dividing the image top to bottom into thirds. Draw two more imaginary lines vertically, dividing the image left to right into thirds. Those lines will cross at four places. The Center of Interest — the most important spot on the image — should be at ONE of those four places. Try to avoid having strong details at any of the other three crossing points. The Center of Interest is generally bright and sharp. While other aspects of the image guide the eye through the image, you want the eye to finish, to stop, at the Center of Interest.Which crossing point should you use for your Center of Interest? Your choice.

2 Golden ratio

The golden ratio is another composition technique that is based on a mathematical proportion that is considered to be aesthetically pleasing. It is similar to the rule of thirds, but instead of dividing the image into nine parts, it divides it into eight parts by two diagonal and two curved lines that form a spiral shape. Recuerda que la regla de los tercios, la proporción áurea, las líneas convergentes, divergentes, los puntos de fuga, la simetría, el equilibrio, el espacio negativo, la teoría del color, la perspectiva, la dirección de la mirada, los triángulos, las repeticiones y el ritmo, los claroscuros, las proporciones, y tantas otros elementos son importantes pero no son la razón de ser una imagen, ellos por si mismos no construyen una obra de arte, son solo herramientas, se pueden utilizar o no, lo importante es tener claro qué se quiere lograr como imagen. Un ejemplo: Puedo hacer un retrato utilizando la regla de los tercios, pero lo que hará memorable esa imagen es la expresión del sujeto, no la regla de los tercios.
