What are some ways to promote social entrepreneurship in your community?

A thorough empathy exercise of your identified user groups is needed to understand the deep rooted needs and insights of the community therefore allowing the solutions to be fit for purpose and aligned to the community needs. The second step is to continuously refine these ideas/solutions through user feedback to make the approach inherently more empathetic and human-centred. This approach not only ensures your social entrepreneurship initiative is impactful but also secures support from community partners as it demonstrates the initiative’s potential to address real world challenges.

Promote social entrepreneurship in your community by organizing awareness events, integrating education into local curricula, and facilitating mentorship programs. Encourage the development of social impact-focused incubators, and foster partnerships between social enterprises, local businesses, and government agencies. A few of my favourite social entrepreneurship ventures that are very successful brands are TOM's and TenTree.

There is a lot of resources available today at all levels of government and also some programs within private enterprise that are dedicated to social entrepreneurship. This funding is only used to help companies that are doing "good" for the world so it should be looked at by you as an opportunity to build a venture doing good for the world.

Communicating with your audience is crucial in any venture but especially important with a social good venture because your audience will demand you stay true to your values and mission. If you are a business that is dedicated to "reducing greenhouse gas emissions" then your customers and audience will hold you to this forever. Don't let a big enterprise company that is polluting the environment come and write you a big cheque of support to "act" like they are doing good. This is just a publicity stunt.
