I chose to do this through coaching my kids sports teams. I really enjoy doing this and it inspires me a lot. To see these kids get ready for battle and the camaraderie they built throughout the season it is truly amazing. From day 1 of practice to winning the championship game, the growth is absolutely incredible. Also, you get to spend time with your kids and family. I have also been fortunate enough to get a few customers out of it as well.

This is why I chose to be involved through youth sports. The schedule is pretty much set in stone in the beginning of the season. Maybe a couple games or practices might be canceled for weather reasons.

Don't be afraid to ask for help, so you can free up your time to help others. Employers are usually able to accommodate these requests. Family members are also happy to help out, and even get involved in these volunteering activities.

In my experience most employers will embrace this. I was able to leave work early for football and baseball practice. My employer also donated to the leagues that I was coaching in. So it’s a win for everyone and most importantly the kids.
