What are some ways to build public support for your organization's mission?

Every business has to communicate, but communication is not everyone’s business. Sometimes it’s easier and less costly and more effective for an organization to work with an external partner to help with storytelling. That way folks in the social service organization can focus on what they do best - which is helping others.

It can be so difficult, when starting a new campaign, to have the first question be "Do you know your audience?" There comes a feeling of dread that there is one more subset of things to learn before we can begin. Fortunately, this subset is looking to define those persons you already know so you can effectively speak the language of the group. Speaking in their terms will help them better hear what you are trying to share.

This article is very true ,first you have know the audience, policymakers are very important to targeting, but the place I live it's hard, since I started this journey,when I am during the awareness-raising community ,I empowered to them ,when election campaign started chose humanitarian activists.

Stories, "Historia" in Spanish reach out to many as they entertain as well as teach. Find concise speakers to share their accounts, or write down the stories and edit them for clarity before release. Keep the audience glued to their seats with your excellent "historia"

It is critical to remember collaborations are setting the foundations for new relationships and you want to keep an open mind about what your message is and how do your collaborators benefit?

When I was involved with the USN Sea Cadet program, it was unknown to most. I asked former military members as well as local law enforcement to do presentations. I also contacted numerous military related foundations to join in our network. I had a lot of practice during my time in the PTA doing just that. One has to step outside the box to get things done. The old "it's always been done this way" was obsolete and not working. Sometimes, you just need to shake things up a bit to get the dust off.

Do stuff. Tell people you did stuff. Present a written account of the stuff you did. Get other people to talk about the stuff you wrote in the report.

If you don't get directly involved with your project, how can you expect other to be engaged or want to? This doesn't mean micromanaging, it means getting to know your team. If you learn what your team has to offer, you can direct appropriate tasks directly to them. Once you know exactly what their strengths are, it works out much better and much less stressful. Also, having expectations is a good thing, as long as you ask the same of yourself.

Transparency is the key. Ensure that everything is beyond reproach. Time, talent, and treasure are imperative areas for complete openness to ensure your organization is successful.
