Then, as I'm listening more or less "disinterestedly" (because I'm working), certain sections and songs will tend to "jump out at me" as possibly being right for various sections of the film. As this happens, I try to put my playlist in an approximate "order" such as I might hear it in the film, and keep working. While not a 100% proposition, for me this process takes a lot of "guesswork" out of sound-tracking.

After all, editors are any film's First Audience so when listening to a scene or soundtrack as an AUDIENCE member (and not "editor"), you'll have a much better idea of your music's fit for any scene, and your film's overall music continuity.
