What are some tips for acing a virtual interview in Process Automation?

Be early to each interview round 7. Speak loudly and clearly 8. Emphasis achievements & challenges 9. Be ready with the respective technology

As a Hiring manager, who once upon a time also applied for employment, this is my approach to a interview. 1. Be authentic, being anything else is a waste of your time and your prospective employer. 2. It’s virtual, this enables you to demonstrate your skill. Don’t be afraid to present work you’ve completed, i believe we should all be “playing” everyday with software and teaching ourselves new skill. 3.explain your thoughts process and personality as far as you can. Use scenarios. 4.ask,ask,ask… interviews are not a one way street. Be brave enough to ask questions related to the company, their mission, culture, types of projects they get involved in. These will help both parties make the correct decision. Be Calm,Confident & Breathe!

My perspective on acing a virtual interview is straight. You should be able to use appropriate symbols and simple sketches to respond to questions....This would make your interviewers know you have a strong knowledge of symbols attached to your craft....if possibly you also have a simulation software, it could certainly come handy by sharing your screen with your interviewer....This I feel are virtual aids during virtual interviews....

Ensure you are on a stable internet connection. You should be able to continue your meeting on an alternate device if there are any issues in your current device. Make best use of the opportunity and staying calm is an important aspect throughout the meeting irrespective of the result.

In addition to checking your tech, pay attention to your video frame. Tidy up the space, consider adding a plant or some books to create a pleasant, work-friendly background. Also, dress appropriately for the role you're aiming for. First impressions are key, and your visual backdrop can significantly influence how you're perceived.

Absolutely agree with researching the company and role. However, I'd caution against coming off as a know-it-all during the interview. Pointing out errors or suggesting improvements might be risky—you're not part of the team yet, and such feedback might not be well-received. It's essential to strike a balance between showing your knowledge and being respectful of their current practices.

Try to do some research about the organization/department for which you have applied. I have seen people appearing for the interview without any idea about the kind of work the organization is involved in. Read the job description point by point. Contrary to popular opinion, this actually matters! This will help you guess the kind of questions that interview panel may ask. Additionally, you can realign your resume to suit the demands of the job. The ultimate goal shall be to present the resume which shall appear as a perfect fit for the role. This can be done only when you have clarity about the job requirements.

Try to find within LinkedIn the person that have worked or are still working on the same role or similar or same team or even their leaders or the leaders of this particular area... so you can see what these people have been working on, studying, following... content they are creating (usually is part of what they are engaged)... these could be related to the role or at least give you more subjects to talk about.

One of the major expectation from the interviewer would be to understand the practical knowledge of the candidate. This can be demonstrated by sharing the experiences of past and present projects. Start by explaining the project's problem statement, solution, your role in the project, challenges faced(most important point) and how did you solve them. Each project would have a unique feature implemented. Focus more on that rather than the common automation steps in each project. Your project details should reflect in the resume as well. Client names can be skipped if your organization doesn't allow you to mention the details. Be prepared to dive deep into the project details if the interviewer asks further questions on that.

I agree that demonstrating skills and knowledge is crucial. In addition to what you mentioned, showcasing practical results can be very impactful. If you've participated in the Intelligent Automation Congress or similar events, highlighting your ranking or accomplishments can be a great touch. Also, consider showing a live demo of your robot in action by sharing your screen during the interview. Opt for something simple yet intriguing to underscore your expertise. It's important to not just tell, but show that you know your stuff.

Something quite important then coding is explaining the logic on how to solve the problem or how to build the solution, since, the coding language could be one that your are not that familiar with... but that's something you can learn faster than logic, which is something you build with experience ??. Also, if you don't know something that is been asked, reinforce you don't know, but also let the interviewer know it will not be a problem because you are always open to learn. You don't need to know everything, but needs to show confidence that you can solve the problems, knowing how to do it or not YET.

Setup your environment in a peaceful place without any noise interference. Ensure you are on a stable internet connection and join the meeting atleast 5-10 minutes in advance so that you can fix any issues that arise while joining the meeting. It is important to have the video feed as a best practice. Be professional and confident in answering even if you are not sure about the accuracy. Interviews are also a part of the learning process.

All the above... but would also include: - calm speaking, take a time to think before start talking and answer with confidence.

If the interview panel gives you the opportunity to ask questions, use it wisely to know more about the organization, role details, company culture. They generally expect you to ask the questions. Be intelligent in asking these questions as you are normally judged by the questions you ask at such moments
