Gatsby is basically obsolete. The project isn't being maintained anymore and Gatsby cloud are closing. Next.js is the best alternative also including more suitable options for scalability such as better server rendering and option for actual backend support. The main challenge is to find the right framework that is going to be the "right" one, because without proper community and support, a lot of core and infrastructure investment will be needed to create basic webapps.
