What are some innovative peer mentoring models that have been successful in Executive Coaching?

Group coaching can be very valuable when the ground rules set to meet each individual’s needs. It will also create wisdom of the circle; meaning collective consciousness will be manifested out of the experiences and knowledge in the circle

Group coaching in executive peer mentoring brings together a small cohort of individuals facing similar challenges or pursuing common goals. Led by a skilled coach, these sessions foster collective learning, diverse perspectives, and shared accountability. Group coaching leverages the synergy of the group, enabling participants to gain insights not only from the coach but also from the experiences and wisdom of their peers. This model encourages collaboration, accelerates individual growth, and builds a supportive community within the executive cohort.

I'm not sure it's fair to call action learning a model, rather it's a broad approach with an underlying set of principles that is compatible with various approaches. Design Sprint is, for example, a great process to allow for action learning. I've also designed workshops with an 'action learning' focus, where I keep in mind the intent that nobody should feel 'this workshop could have been a YouTube video', and the learning happens primarily from participants taking... you guessed it... action! The important thing is to remember that it does require good design and facilitation for mindful and deliberate outcomes, and the quality of the facilitator makes a huge different.

Peer coaching involves reciprocal coaching relationships between executives, where each participant takes on the role of both coach and coachee. This model fosters a culture of shared learning, trust, and mutual support. Executives can leverage their diverse skills and perspectives to help each other navigate challenges, set goals, and refine leadership capabilities. Peer coaching is a dynamic and flexible model that encourages a continuous exchange of insights, ultimately contributing to the professional development of all involved.

I have participated in and run mastermind groups, and they are awesome. An important thing to consider is taking the time to create a sense of participant-driven design of the group, and identifying and resolving any issues and differences in commitment level and expectations across the participants.
