What are some flipped classroom models that can improve computer hardware development?

We learn by doing! Most of us, anyway! I am an audio-visual learner, so the flipped classroom model is perfect for actual learning. This is why I encourage everyone to build a lab and repetitively do, do, do! The trouble with traditional classroom education is too much theory and insufficient real-world application! Those among us can read a book or listen to a lecture and pass a test. However, attaching that to real applications to add value to the marketplace is often missed in traditional learning classroom environments. Also, by actually doing what you learn, you build muscle memory, actual skills, and awareness of what your innate talents become more aware consciously. For me, this is perfect learning; it's encouraging!

When I was still enrolled during varsity years at Stellenbosch University; I always didn’t understand why i needed a lot of maths, physics, statistics, comp science and any other subjects or skills why the university knew played major roles in how computer systems will then be developed or integrated in the future. The basic flipped model is simple and easy but mind stress involves self learning and tutorials .Then, in class, then the work is more of practical tasks, such as designing, assembling, testing, or troubleshooting hardware components or systems. Instructor is there to correct mistakes and improve your knowledge. Idea is to fully understand how to assemble and also learn how to build supporting systems or components.

Peer review and instruction are fantastic ways to absorb content. Here are a couple of reasons why this works so well. Comradery builds commitment and competence in an organized manner with the separation of authority. It is the same reason parents can talk until they are blue in the face, but someone else can break through to the child. The authority element is removed, which takes the stress out of the environment. The emotional involvement of an authority figure is not conducive for most in a learning environment. At least for the masses, anyway. Some appear to learn better in an authority-driven model, but these are the odd exceptions. Additionally, you learn better when a team of people are trying to achieve the same outcome!

This works, but only if you, as a dedicated team member, do your part and understand the work of other team members and can do their work in their absence if they need help or become saturated. You see this failure in team environments that are poorly team-managed. Ideally, high-functioning and high-performing teams manage themselves, hold themselves accountable, and work together to swallow the mission requirements and impact to deliver successful outcomes. However, it requires excellence by all team members. This value-add is evident when team members are dedicated, determined, and up to their jobs. However, blatant slackness, laziness, or purposely leaning on other teammates too often destroys this model! Team leads can help with this!
