One of your greatest strength as a self-employed architect is to choose the work you chase. My firm cultivaltes and looks for work that has the largest social impact (typically eductional and housing work informed by sustainable means and methods and a design justice framework).

In my experience this is the most important aspect, know yourself before starting your journey towards your goals and objectives.
