TOD minimizes car dependency by fostering walkability and easy access to public transport - This encourages the users to use more regularly the public transit network instead of relying on other less efficient transport methods (car). Transit-oriented development enhances urban connectivity, by having users use structuring transport. By integrating in proximity residential, commercial, and transit infrastructure, it encourages a more compact and livable environment. Cities should always consider implementing a TOD whenever they open a new high frequency public transport station (Light-rail, Subways, BRT, Tram etc.).
