Managers should be able to share expectations and norms in a professional and respectful manner but they might need a little bit more training in handling absence and lateness. They should be provided with a clear guidance and practical advice in each situation before they comfortable in managing that on their own. Very often absence might caused by time/ shift scheduling conflicting with person's cultural or religious obligations or practices. Managers should be supported in gaining more knowledge about diverse workforces and how to support them to provide an efficient and happy work environment.

An effective way of managing attendance is having clear communication about the do's and don'ts, detailed leave and attendance policy, a software that can replicate the policy as it is. Having a HRMS which is easy to understand and use day in and day out. Sending reminders, refreshers of policy to the employees to keep them upto date with any new updates, amendments. Day 1 orientation should have a detailed session of attendance management and the team should guide and provide help atleast for 2 months to make them upto speed in terms of accuracy in attendance and solve any queries that they may have.
