This fall under the broad name of "SOFT SKILLS" or employability skills. The highest rank, in my opinion is self learning. Development is rarely a linear journey and the job they hire you to do is rarely what you'll end up doing. Therefore, be ready to learn. You may be hired as a mobile flutter developer and end up writing a native app using Kotlin or Swift. (This is from personal experience). Other skills are: 1. Adaptability 2. Teachability 3. Giving and receiving feedback (Especially receiving negative feedback without being emotional)

1) Adapt a mindset to code to make it difficult for QAs to find bugs. 2) Run a concise test plan before merging changes. 3) Master the "spot the difference" skill to enhance communication with designers and identify potential design issues in advance. 4) Build a close relationship with QAs to learn about unknown features in your app. This would give you an opportunity to learn more about unknown app features and understand any ripple effects of your code changes. 5) Master effective codebase search techniques to uncover solutions and identify previously utilized design patterns for your tasks. 6) Develop the skill of translating technical jargon into understandable language for non-technical individuals.
? Always comment your code, think of the poor dude who will work on your code years later... ? Use obvious names for your variables ? When making a feature, try to make it easy to change and evolve, you should make use of design patterns and reusable blocks in such a way that, if you have to work on that part again, change will be made easily. ? Streamline everything you can, sizes/colors/margins, it makes for a consistent UI and makes it super easy to change. ? Small devices can be used by big hands, small texts might be read by people with poor eyesight, blind people might use your app. Remember that everyone is different, but has the right to use your product all the same. Accessibility matters.
Create personal projects and make improvements. Utilize max in the resources from the platform possible. Exemple: Camera, GPS, database, network, background, authentication, etc… If possible publish in the app store/google play. This way you will learn a lot and solve problems. Search the response and learn about the cause issue. This was of great value to me.
Learn by doing. Get your hands dirty. Create a problem for you to solve. Build your app around solving that problem. Another very vital skill that has helped me in my journey is mentorship. Seeking solutions from those who have more experience than you. Even those beside you. Be honest enough to say when you're stuck and seek out guidance. This helps me learn faster and avoid a lot of pitfalls in software by learning from others! Such an underrated skill.
Never let your tokens, secret keys or other data compromising values readable. Never forget obfuscation in Android. Pay attention to memory leaks. Always test your code.
