What skills do automotive engineers need to improve quality control?

Una de las principales funciones del ingeniero de calidad es su capacidad de análisis de las causas raíz, el día a día se hace más fácil cuando aplicas metodologías para llegar a las causas del problema. Mucho de los problemas parecen, ser inmensos pero a veces las soluciones son más simples, la clave a mi parecer es no dejar de investigar, y seguirse preparando con cursos, y estar listo para los cambios internos y los problemas futuros.La práctica hace al maestro.

Learn and practice Failure Mode Analysis as it would lead to much faster and neater root cause analysis or at least for designing the ideal experiment which will highlight the correct trend or the sensitive parameter of the system.

One of the most Quality Control and Improvement is the problem solving by enhancing the ability to solve and detect the problems before happened. Lessons learned and planning is the way to get the best Quality Control in the field.

Es importante mantener una actitud de curiosidad durante el análisis de problemas para evaluar las causas potenciales y llegar a la causa raíz. Un ejemplo de metodologías para analizar problemas complejos puede ser el Toyota Bussines Practices, el cual está fundamentado sobre los valores del Toyota Way y abarca 8 acciones: 1. Clarificar el problema 2. Descomponer el problema 3. Fijar un objetivo (problema prioritario) 4. Analizar la causa raíz 5. Desarrollar contramedidas 6. Ver contramedidas a través del proceso 7. Evaluar resultados 8. Estandarizar las contramedidas efectivas. El éxito de la herramienta problem solving estará en no tomar atajos y hacer multidisciplinar el trabajo durante las etapas de análisis, evaluación y cierre.

Anstatt krampfhaft die genannten Eigenschaften erst "ausbilden" zu müssen, schlage ich einen IQ Test gepaart mit dem Ergebnis des Gallup strenght finders vor. Intelligenz, Analytik sollten dann die Top Ergebnisse bei Gallup sein. Divergentes Mindset in Auswertung des IQ-Tests und fertig.

Una buena idea mal comunicada puede tener un impacto negativo, y laboralmente puede representar perdidas para la empresa es importante cuidar tanto el aspecto técnico como el aspecto comunicativo. Un consejo que a mi me sirvio es que puedes acercarte con quien creas que tiene la experiencia necesaria para orientarte, puedes practicar a solas antes de dar una presentación, o siempre puedes tomar un curso que te ayude a simplificar tus ideas y poder transmitirlas.

A mi me ha resultado útil consultar a especialistas en distintos procesos de fabricación, en la medida que eso fuese posible, para cubrir dudas técnicas. Si bien del ciclo académico los ingenieros tienen una base general de procesos automotrices, en la actividades de campo es donde estos conceptos se van consolidando a medida que se abordan distintas problemáticas a causas de reclamos de clientes/ líneas de producción o bien en fases de desarrollo de productos. Desarrollar una buena base técnica, agiliza la toma de decisiones y contribuye a disminuir fallas en los productos y procesos

It is rare that one person will handle the whole system by its own which means that you will be working in a subsystem, component or whatever that will have an interface with another part hence another person/team member is working that. When you work as a team, you learn to listen, analyze, understand, decide for trade offs that will impact your product and the quality of it.

Una de las actividades que me ayuda a la adaptabilidad es perticipar constantemente en talleres como voluntario en la IATF & AIAG, para conocer las tecnologías, herramientas y conocimientos técnicos qué se vienen gestando en el sector automotriz.

In my experience in the automotive sector, one skill that has helped me to improve quality control is a attention to detail and application scope or section-related check lists. Attention to detail as an engineer helps me to quickly identify areas for improvement in already existing projects and consequently apply methods to correct the error. Also, judiciously applying check list to operation and testing can aid in isolating faults and spotlight areas deserving attention.

Developing detail-based orientation and a check-list order in your scope of work. This usually comes easily with people who have the cursed gift(s) of perfectionism and/or OCD.

Must understand GDNT, Tolerance Calculations. -Must know how to check the defined tolerances. -Must be familiar with FMEA. -Must do everything to try out all the failure modes and wrong use cases on the first prototypes. From the beginning of the concept phase must think of all these points, and consider them.
