At this point, catastrophe looms—the heat can lead to an explosion.

Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive to heat and cold. Extreme temperatures can destabilize the chemical reactions within the battery, leading to: 1. Increased internal pressure, As the temperature rises, the electrolyte and gases inside the battery expand, putting pressure on the cell walls. This can lead to ruptures and explosions. 2.
