What is the role of human intelligence in cyber threat intelligence?
Cyber threat intelligence (CTI) is the process of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information about current or potential cyber attacks, actors, and campaigns. CTI helps organizations to understand the threat landscape, prioritize their defenses, and respond effectively to incidents. However, CTI is not only about technical data, such as indicators of compromise (IOCs), malware signatures, or network traffic. It also involves human intelligence (HUMINT), which is the information derived from human sources, such as insiders, informants, or researchers.
