I began my career as an SQA professional, and I have been working for a single company since then. In my experience, having approved design assets, comprehensive user stories, and test cases based on requirement traceability matrices is crucial for ensuring smooth software development with high quality. However, one of the challenges can be regression testing, especially as the system becomes more mature and stable. To address this, it's essential to plan which test cases are critical for automation. Running these automated test cases with each build can significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of the testing process.

No-code tools are very good at automating common tests quickly, but not every kind of test you might need. Faster test dev today may mean higher maintenance or migration costs tomorrow.

In my experience, managing test cases is a major challenge in Quality Assurance. Ensuring comprehensive coverage while keeping test cases up-to-date is tough. Balancing detailed test cases and a manageable suite is tricky, especially when integrating automated and manual tests using different tools. Organizing and categorizing test cases for easy access and understanding is another struggle. Tools like TestRail and JIRA help but have their own learning curves. Finding the right balance and continuously improving processes is key.

I've seen my fair share of over analyzed test cases. It's a very common mistake that unfortunately, is really hard to avoid. Instead of coming up with user-based test cases, come up with all combinations of your systems, and then turn those into user test cases. Another life-saver is chained test-cases. In other words, in the sequence of test cases A, B, C and D, only run the next, if the previous has passed. That structure will help identify root cause of your failed test, as your APIs get more and more complicated.

You must also be aware of the "pesticide paradox", where any systematic testing also leaves room for error to consistently miss certain code bugs unchecked. You should revise test cases appropriately to change the coverage type.

Due to the data protection laws implemented in many countries, it is not possible to actually use real data in testing. Instead, use a test data that accurately mocks the real-world data that will be fed into the app/software. This ensures no confidential data is being used, yet at the same time, it ensures that what is being tested reflects its real world usage.

Think of test data as the "fuel" for your QA tests. It's the information that simulates real-world situations, like feeding different types of food to see if your software functions correctly. While it's vital, getting the right data can be tricky. It might be incomplete, inaccurate, or irrelevant, like using toy cars instead of real ones in a driving test. To avoid these roadblocks, understand what you're testing and where to find the data (databases, user inputs, etc.). Use tools to create, store, and manage this data securely, especially if it's sensitive or confidential. Remember, good test data is like having the right ingredients for a successful QA recipe!

Of course, this is often not possible in most companies since environment infrastructure is costly and companies often feel that it's not worth to develop one just for QA usage. The best compromise is to have an environment that reflects its "live" counterpart, so that any issues that might crop up in the live environment can be replicated on the test environment. This also ensures that the live environment is free from "dirty" data.

Ensure that the data is collected consistently and without bias.This ensures that the report addresses their information needs and avoids potential misunderstandings.Provide regular updates in subsequent reports to show progress and changes over time that will help you before finalizing the report.

Good day to all, There is no tool or automation is bad/ not usefull / troubling us. Its a organisations call to select appropriate applications. Every application involves evaluation / assessment / cost/ money. If we compromise during initial assessment then we have to leave with it. Each application is designed with some good intent. There are possibilities or errors during initial development. We should select complete developed/ validated application without any compromise. Define our URS inline with our current guidelines / regulations. Currently we are noticing a issue like “upgrade the software application/ compatibility with available applications/ dataloss/ windows updates etc.

Testing can be tedious if it is quite frequent and needs to be thorough. This can be addressed by: 1. Automating as many test cases as possible so that human effort is spent on more complex scenarios. 2. Passing the tester hat around to various team members so that different thought processes are applied to the same process. 3. By setting aside a testing window as a team and rewarding testers who manage to identify bugs. 4. By developing a mindset that doesn't consider testing as an overhead for development team by an essential step towards delivering a quality working product that is fail proof.
