Not only we need identify stakeholders, I prefer that we MEET the stakeholders, preferable face to face. In fact, in some projects, stakeholders would be happy if they get to know the project managers informally even before the project kick-off meeting. After meeting with stakeholders, engaging them can be tricky. Stakeholder engagement requires excellent interpersonal skills of the project manager. Therefore it can be beneficial if top management can share tips and tricks on dealing with (difficult) stakeholders, or event we can learn from sales team who normally possess exceptional people skill.
