In my experience, pooling together data is not the only "gating" factor, rather, all-inclusive data from contributing sources across the world brings better representation in the analysis outcome(s). The example often brought up is in GWAS analysis where the majority of data often comes from Anglo-Saxon cultures which biases the interpretation and application of the outcomes. Preferred approaches rely heavily on designing the pooling of data from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic input data from across the world.

In my experience, it is difficult to find people skilled and versed in the knowledge of scientific information (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and/or Chemistry) and Data analytics. These two areas are critical to evaluating and analyzing data sets for personalized medicine outcomes because one has to pool large amounts of data to provide contextual relevance for single isolating diagnostic-prognostic factors in Genomics, Proteomics, and Transcriptomics.
