What are the newest sensor technologies for improving robotic systems?
Robotic systems rely on various sensors to perceive and interact with their environment, such as cameras, lidars, radars, sonars, gyroscopes, accelerometers, and force-torque sensors. However, these sensors are not perfect and can suffer from noise, bias, drift, calibration errors, and occlusion. Therefore, new sensor technologies are being developed to improve the performance, reliability, and robustness of robotic systems. In this article, we will explore some of the newest sensor technologies for improving robotic systems, such as event cameras, tactile skins, optical fibers, and quantum sensors.
