Objetivos SMART es muy simple de entender, pero muchas veces muy difícil de implementar desde los líderes hacia las personas. In my experience, there are many examples where this has not been possible; however, there are always alternatives to explore. Nevertheless, one should never, and I mean never, overlook understanding the impact that implementing a system of goals and outcomes will have on individuals and their individual contributions to the company's objectives.

Setting Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) goals is a timeless approach, but its significance has only grown. Ensure that each team member has well-defined objectives aligned with the overall organizational goals. Regularly revisit and adjust these goals based on evolving priorities and individual skill development, keeping everyone focused and motivated.

Coaching as a way of life is very effective in motivating employee performance. Add delegation and job shadowing to this and an employee will feel they are part of the organisation as they are allowed to lead conversation around their career progression.

I am a big fan of the mentoring concept. Any colleagues can offer themselves as mentors for specific topics in which they have special knowledge or for which they have a particular passion. Interested colleagues can contact mentors and become mentees in order to learn from them or be coached. This concept has been very well received in our consulting company (~ 1000 employees) and offers uncomplicated coaching / consulting opportunities that everyone has access to. I love the impact of coaching on individuals. Generally, coaching has been limited to executive teams within companies, restricting the potential positive impact of this tool. In other words, the impact of a good coaching process should be directed where changes occur, where improvement opportunities exist, and where the relationship with people performing their work is built: in middle leadership. A challenge for human resources teams is to build a compelling business case to secure resources and convince the organization of the need for this investment in development. (Coaching may not be cheap, but it is truly worth it).

In my experience, although some firms have started to adopt financial well-being programs there aren’t many that have fully embraced a robust model that is regularly revisited and engages in constant employee feedback on its effectiveness. Bearing in mind financial health is linked to so many other areas and effects everyone, I would establish a comprehensive financial well-being program which includes measurable factors and helps engage the workforce in matters outside of just their day to day job.

Employees can then use this feedback as a basis for argumentation in discussions with superiors. Goals in general and Performance evaluation should in general be less individual and more team-based. In today's complex world, major goals can only be achieved as a team, which is why team performance should take center stage.
