There is a simple principal to never lose sight of. Rarely is there a single tool which can fulfill all your technology needs. Network monitoring and security are no different. You'll typically need suite of tools to accomplish your goals. I've often heard "But we already have "x" which does most of what "y" does." Remember, some level of redundancy is acceptable and even preferred. Ask yourself "Is there one feature "y" has that's valuable to my organization and can we derive value from the overlapping features?" Be prudent and thorough with your choices and enjoy your success.
