Most of the POD platforms are menu-driven and not difficult to navigate. It's a matter of having your ducks in a row for the mechanics of the process. Check to see what file formats the platform supports. At the most basic level, you can use Word docs and download interior templates for the specific platform. PDFs and ePubs work better. As you grow and learn more, you might want to upgrade to formatting software or hire out the interior design. Your cover sells the book. (I say this as a writer. Sigh.) You want the best professionally designed cover you can afford. The actual process is easy; doing it well is next level. And, there is ALWAYS a snag in the process. Expect it.

You're not going to get a whole lot of marketing support with a Print-on-Demand platform--that's not their job. HOWEVER, Amazon is in business to sell products. If your book is selling, they will show it to more people. You get a slight bump when you first publish, so it pays to have a strong launch. But you also need to have a marketing plan that will keep your sales going for weeks after launch. It's the sustained sales that will keep your book showing up in Amazon's algorithms after the initial bump.

I recommend using KDP/Amazon and IngramSpark to most of my clients. Because I work with business speakers and coaches, many want their book available for bulk sales. Ingram is a bit more reliable in delivering books and their quality is better than KDP's. One thing you can't control is the timing on deliverability. Usually, you can count on having your bulk order shipped and delivered within two weeks. Sometimes things get hung up. Order well in advance if you need a large quantity of books and have them shipped to wherever you are speaking, if you can. If you're on a tight schedule, you have options. 48HourBooks and SpinnPrint are two companies I recommend. They are a bit more expensive, but they can deliver within tight time frames.
