First thing, I have a bit of advice, as I was a Partner/Associate Partner in consulting organization only briefly. Otherwise, working with Big 4s, I can say to prepare for Partner role who is a leader we need to demonstrate the following, 1. Ability to get business to sustain a practice 2. Your approach and more precisely a structured plan to get business 3. Your network of clients 4. Your network of internal connects within the organization to get business 5. Your knowledge on systems and guidelines of your organization, under which you work 6. Your team 7. What you bring differently and add value to your organization.

One thing I would add is demonstrated leadership. A partner is expected to lead the company into the future (along with other partners). This will require expanding on the company's vision, predicting the next big thing, and aligning the company around these big ideas. Partners are the ones who create the future of the company, and hence, this is important.
