1 Inspect and monitor

The most important task for maintaining an energy distribution system is to use continuous thermal & load monitoring to monitor the main devices and cables, to ensure all devices are protected from overload and overheat. Currently, reliable and economical monitoring devices are available. then determine the policy if an overload & overheat event occurs, which devices must be shut down to prevent damage and minimize losses

Inspection, logging the parameters,input values to determine the trends of electrical parameters of equipment like transformers, circuit breakers( pressure in case of SF6). In this way the outages can be minimized.

In my experience, for maintaining proper power distribution, there must be balanced load in all phases (R, Y, B) at basic. Technically, the equipment/ System should have enough capacity to distribute power for reliability. Also, frequent inspecting and monitoring should be done on the system by measuring instruments for any probable system failure and overloading.

Every system has life cycle(lifetime). We should also consider the life cycle of power distribution system as well. Once installed the power distribution system may be in sufficient condition for future, so we should keep in mind to consider the system upgrade and also its improvement. This can be done by installation of latest technology system integrated with automatic system, that will improvise the system efficiency and enhance reliability.
