One of the main issues in renewable energy supply chain is the mismatch between demand and supply. Perhaps the single largest factor that impacts not just renewable projects but also private and public programs (that tender or award those projects out to developers) has got to be materials and components, namely the solar PV panels, wind turbines, inverters and PV trackers among others. While geopolitics has significantly ushered in a era of de-globalization over the last few years, leading to localization of renewable supply chains leading to new artificial constraints that limit the overall sector growth, concentration of raw materials in a few countries that hold a large veto on supply of materials and components to the sector has also been another important supply chain issue that yet remains unaddressed for the renewable industry.

Renewable energy technologies are often bulky, fragile, or sensitive, which require special handling, packaging, and transportation.
