In my opinion the sales person first and for all need to understand the problem from the potential customer and can build a relationship with the customer. If a sales person is to technical the discussion is often going down the wrong way and you discuss about tiny little things, which will not solve the overall problem. Slice the Problem in data and processes is always a good approach. For that I think it would be good if the sales person know the borders of the data structures and algorithms of the product they want to sell. But still most important part is listen to the customer and don't jump to fast to technical solutions.

En nuestro caso la depuración es un punto igual o más importante que el propio programa . Ejecutamos a boques o sub-bloques para evitar males mayores. Una vez el programa ejecutado “a bloques” se crea un archivo de registro que se verifica para un control exhaustivo.

I often got the feeling that salespeople people talk like they know more than they actually do. But at least they all grasp what is a function, a variable, a class, etc. It is crucial to understand what you are selling to feel confident selling it. Without confidence, there's no trust, therefore no sales.

I think a technical salesperson must know - Basics of Database: Types of databases & what is the difference between them - Backend: API, Send Email, Web Socket, Push Notification, etc... - Frontend: Part of the frontend stacks like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, doesn't need to know everything but what it does. If there are any changes, they can be done in HTML CSS, or JavaScript for example. - Networking: IP Address, How the Internet works, How DNS works, etc... - Common Solutions: Hard refresh to clean the cache for example. - Basics of programming: especially on which programming their company is working.

I think the best is the KISS pronciple: Keep It Stupid Simple! (I deliberately reversed the last two words from the way it is usually said b/c I want to emphasize that good, high performing, easily maintainable solutions are _almost_ stupidly simple). We often get enamored with the idea that "I can do this" and get caught up in the technical elegance. That makes it hard to debug or maintain. We also get lazy and do something b/c it is what we are familiar with instead of stretching ourselves to relentlessly improve. Python or JavaScript can be easy, but also tend to be sloppily done...
