I find this to be an important point on the road to discovering the unconscious biases that are present in our surroundings and that we might have unintentionally internalized ourselves. We have to be open to becoming aware of them to address them and to do better moving forward. It takes time, effort, and vulnerability to do this, but it will bring huge benefits to us when we truly become more open to all talent without our biases getting in the way.

We should evaluate the diversity of the team, content, and audience and this can be done by using different tools such as surveys, analytics, audits, and feedback mechanisms to obtain useful insights and data. A simple rule for talent - if it's not a "hell yes" it's a "hell no." The key is to pull as many applicants as possible and find the 'hell yeah" employees. This is business, you're not here to make friends, you're here to make a profit and take care of those who work for you. Don't get caught up in who is more diverse, focus on who makes the highest quality, best value, most trusted product in your market. Leave diversity up to your marketing team. Your staff should be the people who best fit the job, not who fills some arbitrary quota you conjured up.
