There are just 2 ways in which you do this business, 1. Invest in a good team, deliver quality, build word of mouth, and business would flow in. 2. Do great marketing, invest 40-60% of your revenue in everything but team. Get great sales, hire college graduates to save cost, cash flow would improvise, and deliverability would be close to 30% but business would always be cash positive. None of the above is wrong, just that one gives you better sleep at night. But if you are a party person, go with the 2nd one, you any which ways don't sleep.

One of the critical factor is to not over invest in the infra and build of the app in the beginning, and test and learn your way to grow and scale the app. Fail fast with user testing, and keep pivoting the idea based on actual user testing. It’s very rare that the original idea would succeed as is, but if you keep pivoting, you would most likely get to a version that succeeds. Invest in larger build effort as late as possible to minimize the waste. Several times mobile app startups get caught up in the build it all and build it right, then put it out in the market and that is a recipe for failure for startups and new mobile app businesses.

This is by far, the most important step on any business. No marketing means no sales. No sales means no business, regardless of the greatness of your skills, work ethic, or ambitions. Sales are the only indicator of success for any business. All the greatest companies in the world, have one thing in common: Lots of sales. The other companies? Well, we've never heard about them and probably never will. How do you kickstart sales? You can start with your network. We all have one. Your parents, or your friend's parents. A teacher, a mentor, a co-worker, or a previous employer. Foster relations, and make it rain!

Identify a real pain point your target audience has, set up calls and interviews with those potential clients but approach it as a free consultation that you can learn so much from. You will end up providing value, but more importantly you will most probably get a new client. And one that would be a fan. And word of mouth marketing is still one of the best.
