What are the most effective ways to reuse battery materials?

Moreover, some specialized or highly stressed batteries (those experiencing lots of fast cycles for example) can become dangerous to keep in the first environment they were design to be placed. When these could be placed in a different one, like old batteries from cars can be used for solar farms.
