For me Power factor improvements methods are nothing but means of generating reactive power. Most commonly used methods are capacitor banks, synchronous condenser & Phase advancer. Capacitor banks are most commonly used as they are very cheap and requires less maintenance. Un my experience it’s effective to minimise operation of idling or lightly loaded motors. Avoid operation of equipment above its rated voltage. Replace standard motors as they burn out with energy-efficient motors. Even with energy-efficient motors, however, the power factor is significantly affected by variations in load.
