OK, we need to take a step back. What is "R&D road mapping"? I've been doing product management for 25 years and never heard this term. Are we talking about a "product roadmap"?

My start would be to a) Qualify your product - whether it is disruptive innovation or upgrade? as it defines the target goals, R& D involvement b) R & D to be part of feedback plan 1)Before design conception -early feedback helps to gain insights about prospective product 2)Customer feedback before project downstream will verify market potential (Will help to fine tuning economics of product making )3)User feedback will aide iteration of the product 4)Post launch feedback -will enhance continuous improvement as wells as loyalty base.

In my perspective, feedback is not exclusive to product management. In fact, an entire organization could have numerous customer touchpoints and feedback loops. Facilitating and enabling the entire organization to gather product-related feedback and providing a direct path to the product and product manager is crucial for achieving a comprehensive 360-degree view.

Gather user feedback through surveys, interviews, social media, then analyze the user feedback and prioritize issues based on frequency, severity, and potential impact on the product roadmap. Develop user personas based on user feedback. These personas represent your target audience and can guide product roadmap decisions, later translate user feedback into user stories clearly.

Some key questions to consider in leveraging user feedback effectively into R&D road mapping: a) What problem are we trying to solve? Are we looking to identify pain points in existing products, discover unmet user needs, or validate new feature ideas? b) What stage are we in the development process? Is the product in its early ideation phase, or are we focused on refining existing features? c) What success metrics will we use? How will we measure the impact of incorporating user feedback? It’s good to get feedback and listen to it but It more important is to understand the main pain point. Most of the customers are not able to define the real paint point. You need to live and breathe the product in the same way your customers are doing. Then, combine it with the quantitative data. Once you know the problem is real, work with your team to get to the MVP
