Organizations invest a significant amount of efforts to tighten up security boundaries. Information security department naturally holds a big say within modern-day organizations. However, one noticeable issue is that the info sec department operates within an isolated environment and focuses solely on securing its borders without considering the organization's vision. This can be a reason for reduced innovation within the company. This is where the "Too Much Security" theory comes into play. Regardless of how many security policies and procedures we implement, we must ensure they do not impede the company's growth. Especially for telcos, where the network is the core business, we always have to balance security with business value.
