Testimonials help the potential client to vicariously experience the transformation through your clients’ positive experiences. They can relate to them vs. you tooting your own horn.

An agreement at the beginning of your engagement that sets the stage for “when it’s successful, then we should have a conversation about referrals or testimonials”. This helps to avoid undue pressure,on either of you, or that awkward feeling of “when to ask” at any point in the relationship. Agree early, set expectations, deliver on those expectations.

I find people are more then happy to provide recommendations and testimonials. I usually ask for them towards the end of a coaching engagement when we have discussed wrapping up in the next couple of months. I also let them know how they will be used and for what purpose - e.g my own growth and development.

it's all about the heart and the contribution you make to that one individual.. even if you don't have the testimonials it is perfectly fine.. focus on the big picture .. your impact and contribution to the individual and society than merely the documentation of what you have done to them.. make it natural
