What is the most effective way to communicate with your partners to foster trust?

Our body language, gesture and posture very much import in communication. During communication with partners to build trust on each other, we have to be respectful of partners' opinions, values, and cultures, and avoiding any criticism, judgment, or blame. By being honest and respectful, you can foster trust, credibility, and goodwill with your partners, and create a positive and productive partnership environment.

Take responsibility. No excuses, no justifications. If you mess up, fess up. Communicate respectfully at all times. No yelling, no gossiping, no belittling comments, no embarrassing others. Clarify, emotionally and mentally, how you expect to be treated. We teach others how to treat us by the way we treat ourselves. Under-promise and over-deliver. Do what you say you will do, and keep your word; if the unexpected arises, renegotiate. Tell the truth, quickly, with compassion. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Focus on intentionally seeing the best in the other person. People want to be around others who make them feel good about themselves. Ask for and receive feedback. Ask sincerely and openly, and respond respectfully.

Building trust with partners is critical. I have always found that being open, honest and genuine has enabled me to build trust with my partners whether they are clients or candidates. I am who I am and by offering a listening ear, advice when it is sought. a willingness to help and empathize has always been my go-to.

Definitely agree unmet expectations can KILL a relationship fast. Most of the time our partners do not even know what we expect from them. A friend of mine put it this way, if you expect to fool around tonight with your partner, buy her roses, chocolates and then buy dinner but don’t get any it’s your fault. If you would have said hunny it’s been awhile and I miss you, can we spend “Quality” time together and she says yes then you will both get what you expected. Same in business if your team doesn’t know EXACTLY what is expected it’s your fault if they fail.

Not all are necessary, but here are some tactics to consider in strengthening your relationships. - Scheduled Check-ins: Have weekly or bi-weekly calls based on your collaboration intensity. - Shared Digital Platforms: Use Slack for real-time communication and document sharing. - Monthly Newsletters: Highlight key achievements, challenges, and upcoming initiatives. - Feedback Loops: Establish channels for feedback like quarterly surveys or dedicated sessions. - Customized Communication: Tailor communication method to the nature of the news. - Transparency: Be open about hurdles and victories to promote trust and shared problem-solving. - Utilize CRM Systems: Track interactions and ensure no communication is missed.

Again,no justifications. If you mess up, fess up. easy as this : Communicate with transparency! Have no hidden agenda, Behave consistently, Emotional ups and downs cause people to doubt you, Show sincere interest in others' aspirations and goals. Ask questions and listen.

Part of this means speaking less than you’d like. Listen, ask deep questions, and gain true understanding of their needs and processes. Demonstrate curiosity. Provide insight at appropriate times.

Active listening is the most important practice of communication. Active listening creates good environment of communication. Active listening involves listening with all senses. As well as giving full attention to the speaker, it is important that the ‘active listener’ is also ‘seen’ to be listening - otherwise the speaker may conclude that what they are talking about is uninteresting to the listener.

I believe being genuine in any relationship goes a long way! Listening to what motivates your partners and what are their immediate goals that you or your organisation can support, fosters a healthy relationship. Catching up once in a while outside of meetings rooms strengthens the rapport. Being a little more human, responding in time and transparency establishes trust and reliability.
