The best way to capture carbon dioxide is to plant more trees. Trees take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. This is a simple low cost method to reduce emissions.

As with pre-combustion capture, minimum critical mass is desirable to make it cost effective. To add a filter in each combustion powered vehicle seems excessive (too much for too little). On a coal power station, on the other hand, filtering the products of combustion before atmospheric release would contribute not only to a significant reduction of CO2 emissions but also an improvement of local air quality. In my opinion, Oxy-fuel combustion is not so much about CO2 recoverability but about avoiding unwanted nitrogen oxides, to control/manage local air quality standards.

Direct Air Capture (DAC): Unlike the aforementioned methods applied in industrial settings, DAC involves capturing CO2 directly from the ambient air. Various technologies, including chemical absorbents or solid sorbents, are used to extract CO2 from the air.

In this one, I will agree with our colleague Dr Bruce Savage. Nature is already offering us the best Direct air capture. Recovery of ecosystems and reverse deforestation will go a long way.

It offers potential negative emissions, but competes with land use, faces social and ecological concerns, and requires careful balance with other biomass applications.

When BECCS utilizes biowaste, food waste, or other organic materials not suitable for other uses, it significantly reduces competition for land. BECCS, when applied to pyrolysis of carbon-rich materials like these waste products, offers a sustainable way to generate energy while mitigating carbon emissions. These materials would otherwise contribute to landfill waste or greenhouse gas emissions through decomposition. By converting this organic waste into energy and capturing the resultant CO2, BECCS becomes a more sustainable and less land- and power-intensive solution compared to any other CCS technology. It's a win-win, helping reduce atmospheric CO2 and addressing waste management challenges

You can also gasify residues/biomass and produce syngas (rich in CO, CO2 and H2) that can be fermented by carboxydotrophic bacteria, coupling energy generation with the production of added value products. Carboxydotrophic bacteria can also ferment carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide from other polluting sources, such as industrial flue gases, storing this carbon as organic acids or alcohols that can then be used in the chemical industry, for example.

Absorption : This involves using liquid absorbents (e.g. amine solutions) , to capture carbon dioxide from industrial processes or power plant flue gases. The absorbent reacts with carbon dioxide (CO2), forming a solution that can be further processed to release the captured carbon dioxide. This method is widely used in various industries. Apart from that it is a key component of post-combustion carbon capture technologies.

One of the most effective means of capturing carbon is to reinstate and proliferate those ancient natural techniques of living off the land, where humans cultivate food without destroying soil carbon reserves. The biodiversity protected through using such natural systems automatically establishes and maintains natural carbon cycles that sequester atmospheric carbon without the adverse effects that artificial carbon capture and storage systems create.

Pouco se fala em linguagem simples e de maneira para que todos, todos mesmo entendam a necessidade de cuidar e prevenir um pouco mais os desastres naturais que já est?o acontecendo. Muito se fala de 2030,mas pergunta um jovem do ensino médio público, se ele sabe por que 2030. Pergunta, uma dona de casa que precisa de seus eletros domésticos , sprays para cabelo e rosto, se elas sabem ou compreendem o que est?o fazendo ao planeta. Precisamos de educa??o ambiental de fato e n?o em propagandas e revistas científicas.

Before commencing a project of this kind, the following factors should be considered: 1) Target CO2 to be absorbed; 2) Results of a feasibility study; 3) Budget, loan, tax reduction & other financial issues; 4) Local/Overseas project references; 5) Land/Rent available for the plant; 6) Regulation Compliance in legal, technical, environmental, safety & fire protection areas; 7) Suggestions of government officials, consultants, residents next to the plant area, district counsellors, environmental organizations & other stakeholders; 8) Recources of plant operation staff & their training needs……etc. I believe the utilization of green plants & biomass is the most cost-effective & sustainable way to absorb CO2, and thus achieve carbon neutral.

We should initiate and push activities to identify biological, Chemical, and biochemical processes to capture Carbon/CO2. If this unwanted gas from atmosphere is captured and converted to some useful products and that too on commercial basis, it would be a great relief towards the cause of climate change. Some organisations, in India & abroad, are working in this area and have also achieved good success. In my opinion, it would be technological success stories that supersede political actions in order to restrain excessive CO2 emissions related disorders
