Poorly defined research design, research questions, and analysis plan definitely impact analysis negatively. These do not impact analytical skills per se, but can throw even a good analyst off the "correct" path. For me, ideally, the analyst designs the research and the questionnaire themselves too, so that they always have the analysis plan in mind, and can make sure everything is designed around it, and addresses the business questions at hand.

In my view, We often tend to look for information that confirms what we already think or believe, instead of considering different perspectives. This can limit our ability to see things objectively and make accurate conclusions. In addition to the above, we rely too heavily on the first piece of information we come across, instead of considering a range of sources. This can lead us to make decisions based on incomplete or inaccurate information. By being aware of these common research mistakes, we can take steps to avoid them and improve our analytical skills.

Before starting your literature review, I recommend you spend some time analyzing the countries, organizations and experts that have achieved a substantial progress in the field in which you are interested. Once you start your review, write down the main ideas and conclusions (including the references) of the information you go through and link them in mind maps that will be an important reference for you and that may be used in the works that you publish and will be extremely helpful in your future conferences. You will feel when everything is connected; if you notice that something is missing, you may cover it in your next research questions until you feel you have achieved what you wanted.

Most of the times, the research design is not given as much importance as it should have. The problem starts at the source, i.e at the problem statement, when that is undefined or not defined very well, the research design is tough to have clarity on. Due to which, the analytics are often disturbed and the purpose of the research is not met. My simple suggestion is that - Keep it clear and keep it simple.
