Pareto analysis is a great tool to tackle recurring issues (targeting 20% of problems causing 80% of the overall issues). However, it's crucial to note that while Pareto nails the repetitive issues, there are some less frequent but high-risk food safety issues. These outliers with significant impact need to be solved. So, although Pareto analysis is highly effective it must be always used with other tools to ensure a comprehensive and effective approach in food manufacturing.

PDCA is the baseline for many continuous improvement process tools. The key factor is to accurately identify the issue or defect you want to tackle. Having this done the rest of the process its pretty straightforward. With the practice you will master it. Data collection is also a key, accurate data will allow you to identify and quantify the issue. The data analysis, should be focused on the real issue otherwise you will get lost in data and covering other different other aspects with less influence than the real issue.
